David Holt Student Scholarship: Scientific Poster Competition 2023

HESC and Heartbeat Perfusion Solutions, Inc. believes perfusion students are not only a part of progress, in regards to both science and medicine, but also are witness to certain recoveries that seem to be miracles. 

HESC along with Heartbeat Perfusion Solutions would like to present one cash $1000 scholarship at HESC 2023 for: 

1. Best poster presentation 

This scholarship is in honor of David Holt, a fellow perfusionist, who retired at the end of 2021 with 45 years in perfusion. David’s specific focus was that of a professional life dedicated to perfusion education. David directly touched the lives of more than 600 individuals in their quest to practice competent perfusion. 

The applicants MUST BE a perfusion student currently enrolled in a CAAHEP accredited school of perfusion. Candidates will submit a scientific abstract which presents in scientific case report from a clinical experience which pertains to cardiovascular perfusion. 

The applicants will not pay for registration to the conference. The applicants will present on Friday, May 26th and the award will be presented on Saturday, May 27th. 

Case Report Presentations should include the following: 

1. Title: State the title of your presentation 
2. Introduction: Briefly describe the case and how it pertains to perfusion practice 
3. Case Report: Include patient age, gender, and other pertinent demographics such as height, weight, and body surface area, brief medical history, extracorporeal equipment and circuitry, operative perfusion procedure, outcome and follow-up (if available) 
4. Discussion: This may include evolution of the technique, history and bibliographic references, expansion of alternative techniques or results, problems, speculations or future suggested approaches. 
5. Conclusion: The conclusion should summarize the main points
